Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for the asparagus.

Toss the trimmed asparagus with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper. Spread in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Roast the asparagus in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until tender-crisp. Set aside.

While the asparagus roasts, pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Reduce heat to medium. Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes.

Stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, chopped fresh parsley, chopped fresh thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the chicken evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Serve the creamy lemon herb chicken immediately, alongside the roasted asparagus.
