Wash 1 cup of rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. Place the washed rice in a bowl and cover with water. Let it soak for 15 minutes.

In a medium pot with a tight-fitting lid, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic and chili flakes to the melted butter. Sauté for 1 minute, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot along with 2 cups of water. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Add salt to taste, starting with 1/2 teaspoon. Stir once more.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot tightly with the lid and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed.

Once cooked, remove the pot from the heat but keep the lid on. Let the rice rest for 5 minutes to allow the steam to finish cooking the grains and make them fluffy.

Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander and a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
