Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 tablespoon (1 1/2 teaspoons) of olive oil, the juice from 1/2 small lemon, the 1 small minced garlic clove, 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley, 3/4 teaspoon chopped fresh dill, 1/4 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme, a pinch of red pepper flakes, 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper. This will be your spicy lemon-herb mixture.
Place the cod fillet on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the fillet generously with about 1 1/2 teaspoons of the prepared spicy lemon-herb mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cod flakes easily with a fork. For added richness, if desired, you can baste the cod with 1/2 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter halfway through the baking time.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Garnish the baked cod with 1-2 fresh lemon slices before serving immediately.
