Take one slice of bread for each sandwich.

Generously spread mayonnaise on one side of this slice of bread using a knife or spatula.

Place three round slices of cheese evenly on top of the mayonnaise-coated side of the bread.

Place one square slice of cheese on top of the three round cheese slices.

Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese layers, forming the sandwich.

Generously spread mayonnaise on the top side of the second slice of bread.

Heat a pan (griddle or frying pan) over medium heat. Add a pat of butter to the pan and spread it evenly across the cooking surface using a wooden spatula as it melts.

Carefully place the prepared sandwich into the pan, with the mayonnaise-coated side of the bread facing down onto the buttered surface.

Cook the sandwich until the bottom side is golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.

Flip the sandwich to cook the other side (which is also coated with mayonnaise) until it is also golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside is thoroughly melted and gooey, about 3-5 minutes.

Remove the cooked grilled cheese sandwich from the pan and place it on a serving plate.
Garnish the sandwich by inserting a green olive on a toothpick into the center of the top slice of bread.

The sandwich is then ready to be served and enjoyed.
