Preheat your oven to 425°F.

In a large bowl, add the 2 cups of self-rising flour.

Add the 1/2 cup of shortening to the flour.

Using a pastry cutter, cut the shortening into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Pour in the 1 cup of Sprite.

Mix gently with a spoon until the ingredients are just combined. Be careful not to overmix the dough.

Lightly flour a clean work surface.

Turn the biscuit dough out onto the floured surface.

Lightly flour the top of the dough.

Roll the dough out to approximately 1/2 inch thick.

Use a biscuit cutter to cut out individual biscuits.

Place the cut biscuits onto a baking sheet.

Brush the tops of all the biscuits with the 1/4 cup of melted butter.

Bake in the preheated oven at 425°F for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
