In a medium saucepan or kettle, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.

Remove the boiling water from the heat. Add the black tea bags to the hot water. Allow the tea to steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on desired strength. Do not oversteep, as this can make the tea bitter.

Remove and discard the tea bags. Stir in the granulated sugar until completely dissolved. Add the fresh orange juice from the large orange and stir well.

Transfer the orange iced tea to a heatproof pitcher or jar. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.

To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the chilled orange iced tea over the ice. Garnish each glass with a fresh orange slice and an optional sprig of mint.
