Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 large egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate medium-sized bowl, whisk together the 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Add the dry ingredients mixture to the wet ingredients mixture. Mix until the ingredients are just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

Gently fold in the 1 cup of mini chocolate chips into the batter.

Pour the prepared batter evenly into the greased and floured loaf pan.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

While the loaf is baking, prepare the cinnamon sugar topping. In a small bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. In another small bowl, melt the remaining 1/2 cup of unsalted butter.

Once baked, remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, carefully remove the loaf from the pan. Brush the entire warm loaf with the melted butter. Immediately sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered loaf, ensuring it adheres well.

Slice the chocolate chip cookie donut loaf and serve warm.
