Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, and salt. Whisk briefly to combine.

Add the avocado oil (or melted butter), eggs, granulated sugar, and honey to the dry ingredients. Mix with a spoon or spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Gently fold in the canned pumpkin puree until streaks of pumpkin are no longer visible.

Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Divide the batter evenly among the 12 lined muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.

Bake for 20 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
