Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente.

Before draining, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water. Drain the cooked pasta and set aside.

In a large skillet or sauté pan, heat the butter and oil over medium-low heat. Add the finely sliced yellow onions and a pinch of salt.

Cook the onions slowly for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are deeply golden, soft, and caramelized.

Add the minced garlic to the caramelized onions and cook for 30-60 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

Stir in the all purpose flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to remove the raw flour taste.

Add the chili oil (1 tablespoon, or adjust to your preference) and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Pour in the chicken stock, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.

Stir in the heavy whipping cream and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it slightly thickens.

Add the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika powder, red chili flakes, and black pepper to the sauce. Taste and adjust salt as needed.

Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce and toss until evenly coated. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.

Stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce becomes creamy.

Add the freshly chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice. Taste and adjust salt again if necessary.

Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, and a drizzle of chili oil, if desired.
