Add the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter to a medium-sized pan or pot over medium heat. Allow the butter to melt.

Add the minced garlic to the pan and cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Stir in the rinsed rice, ensuring it's coated with the garlic butter mixture.

Pour in the chicken broth. Add the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir all ingredients together.

Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the pan tightly with a lid, and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.

After 15 minutes, turn off the heat but keep the pan covered. Let the rice sit undisturbed for another 5 minutes to steam and absorb any remaining liquid.

Uncover the pan and fluff the cooked rice gently with a fork.

Stir in an extra pat of butter, as desired, allowing it to melt into the warm rice.

Garnish with the chopped fresh parsley before serving.
