Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil and garlic powder until well combined. Using a pastry brush or the back of a spoon, lightly brush one side of each sourdough slice with the garlic oil mixture.

Place the bread slices, garlic-oil side down, onto the prepared baking sheet.

Evenly spread about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over the un-oiled side of each bread slice, leaving a small border around the edges.

Generously distribute the shredded low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese over the sauce on each slice. Sprinkle with the grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes, if you're using them.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted, bubbly, and slightly golden brown at the edges, and the sourdough bread is toasted and crisp.

Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the pizza toast cool for a minute or two before slicing in half or into strips. Garnish with fresh chopped basil, if desired, and serve immediately.
