Heat cooking oil in a pot over medium heat. Sear the beef cubes until brown on all sides. Remove the seared beef from the pot and set aside.

In the same pot, sauté the minced garlic, roasted onion, and tomato paste until they are soft and fragrant.

Return the seared beef to the pot. Add the beef broth (or water) and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 1 hour or until the beef is tender.

Add the cubed potatoes and sliced carrots to the pot. Continue to cook for 40 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Add the sliced red bell pepper to the pot and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes to keep them slightly crisp.

If desired, stir in the liver spread and peanut butter until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
