Prepare the balsamic glaze: Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until the vinegar has reduced by about half and coats the back of a spoon. This will take approximately 10-15 minutes. It will thicken further as it cools. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

While the glaze is cooling, prepare the caprese skewer ingredients. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and pat them dry. Drain the fresh mozzarella balls. Gently wash and pat dry the fresh basil leaves.

Assemble the skewers: Thread one cherry tomato onto a wooden skewer, followed by a mozzarella ball, then a basil leaf. Repeat this pattern once more, ending with a cherry tomato. Continue until all skewers are assembled.

Arrange the assembled skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle them lightly with extra virgin olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Just before serving, drizzle the cooled balsamic glaze generously over the caprese skewers. Serve immediately as a refreshing appetizer or side dish.
