While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.

Remove the lid and stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped fresh basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and the sauce is creamy.

Add the drained linguine directly to the sauce in the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash or two of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
