Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced yellow onion. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spatula, until no pink remains and the onion is softened, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.

Add the minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and onion. Cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in the condensed tomato soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Pour the beef mixture evenly into the prepared 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the beef mixture.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.

Remove the casserole from the oven. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the crispy tater tots. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired.
