Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a large zip-top bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or pulse them in a food processor. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the cold milk and instant chocolate pudding mix for 2 minutes, or until thickened. Let stand for 5 minutes.

Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping into the chocolate pudding mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

To assemble the dirt cups, place about 1/4 cup of crushed cookie crumbs into the bottom of each of four individual serving cups or clear glasses.

Spoon about 1/2 cup of the pudding mixture over the cookie crumbs in each cup. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of cookie crumbs on top, resembling dirt.

Refrigerate the dirt cups for at least 2 hours to allow them to set and chill thoroughly.

Just before serving, decorate each cup with 2-3 gummy worms, partially sticking out of the "dirt". Add candy pumpkins or ghost candies as desired for extra graveyard flair.
