Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring there is an overhang on the sides to easily lift the blondies later.

Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and pour it into a large bowl.

Add 1 cup of packed light brown sugar to the melted butter and whisk until the mixture is smooth.

Crack 1 large egg into the mixture, then add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Whisk again until these ingredients are well combined.

In a separate bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Whisk these dry ingredients together.

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredient mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Add 1 1/2 cups of chopped apples to the batter. Gently fold the apples into the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the blondies comes out with moist crumbs.

Let the blondies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. This will take at least 1 hour.

While the blondies are cooling, prepare the Maple Cream Cheese Frosting. In a medium bowl, combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter. Beat with an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Gradually add 3 cups of powdered sugar to the cream cheese and butter mixture, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.

Add 1/2 tablespoon of maple syrup and continue to beat until it is fully incorporated and the frosting is smooth.

Once the blondies have completely cooled, spread the prepared maple cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.

Cut the frosted blondies into squares before serving.
