In a medium bowl, combine the crushed chocolate sandwich cookies with the melted unsalted butter. Stir until the crumbs are evenly moistened. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes, or until thickened. Let stand for 5 minutes to set.

Gently fold in the thawed frozen whipped topping into the chocolate pudding mixture until well combined and lightened. Be careful not to overmix.

To assemble the parfaits, place about 1/4 cup of the buttered cookie crumbs into the bottom of each of four 8-ounce parfait glasses or clear cups. Top with about 1/2 cup of the chocolate pudding mixture.

Repeat the layers, adding another layer of cookie crumbs, followed by another layer of chocolate pudding mixture. You should have enough for two layers of each.

Cover the parfaits and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to chill and set further.

Just before serving, insert 3-4 gummy worms into the top of each parfait, arranging them to look like they are crawling out of the 'dirt'. Garnish with chocolate sprinkles, if desired.
