Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Place the chicken drumsticks in a large mixing bowl.

Season the chicken generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder. Drizzle with oil. Mix everything together thoroughly, ensuring the drumsticks are well coated with the seasonings and oil.

Transfer the seasoned chicken drumsticks to an oven-safe dish, arranging them in a single layer.

Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

While the chicken is baking, combine all the BBQ sauce ingredients (ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, and optional cayenne pepper, plus salt and pepper to taste) in a medium saucepan.

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.

Allow the sauce to simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.

After the initial 25 minutes of baking, carefully remove the chicken drumsticks from the oven.

Brush each drumstick generously with the freshly made homemade BBQ sauce.

Return the sauced chicken to the oven and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 74°C or 165°F) and the BBQ sauce is beautifully caramelized.

Serve the Homemade BBQ Chicken Drumsticks hot and enjoy!
