Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with olive oil.

Place the flank steak pieces into the slow cooker.

Evenly sprinkle the cumin, chili powder, ground chipotle pepper, garlic powder, and salt over the steak.

Add the peeled garlic cloves, chopped fresh cilantro, and the freshly squeezed juice from the orange and limes to the slow cooker.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours, or on low for 8 hours, until the steak is tender and easily shredded.

Once cooked, carefully remove the steak from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.

Take the cooked garlic cloves from the slow cooker and mash them into a paste. Stir the mashed garlic into the shredded carne asada.

Preheat your oven broiler. Arrange the shredded carne asada in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Broil for 5 minutes, or until the edges of the meat become slightly crispy. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.

Spoon some of the pan juices from the slow cooker over the broiled carne asada to keep it moist and flavorful.

Serve the carne asada as is, or use it as a delicious filling for tacos, a topping for salads, or alongside a bowl of rice.
