Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) or prepare your air fryer according to manufacturer's instructions for baking/toasting bread. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Take each slice of white sandwich bread and, using a 2-inch round cookie cutter or the rim of a small glass, cut out circular shapes. You should get 2-3 circles per slice.

Place each bread circle on a clean work surface and use a rolling pin to flatten it very thinly. This will make the bread pliable like a petal.

To assemble the roses, place a small, round object (like a shot glass or a small metal ring) in the center of your work surface. Arrange 4-5 flattened bread circles around this central object, overlapping them slightly to form layers, mimicking rose petals. Start from the outside and work your way in, gently pressing them together to adhere. Once a full rose shape is formed, carefully remove the central object.

Carefully transfer the formed bread roses to the prepared baking sheet or air fryer basket. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-12 minutes, or air fry for 5-8 minutes, until the bread is lightly golden and crisp. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.

Once baked, remove the bread roses and let them cool completely. Once cooled, gently open up the center of each rose slightly.

Spoon a generous amount of pâté into the center of each rose. Garnish with fresh basil or mint leaves, placing them around the base of the pâté-filled rose to resemble foliage.

Serve immediately as an elegant appetizer.
