Take two slices of white bread for each sandwich. For 4 servings, you will need 8 slices total.

Spread butter on one side of the first bread slice.

Place the buttered side down onto a heated pan over medium heat.

Spread butter on the top side of the same bread slice while it's in the pan.

Repeat steps 2-4 with the second slice of bread, placing it next to the first in the pan to toast. Continue toasting all bread slices in batches until golden brown on both sides. Remove from pan and set aside.

In a separate small pan, heat 1 teaspoon of cooking oil over medium heat. Crack one egg into the hot oil.

Season the egg with a pinch of salt.

Season the egg with a pinch of black pepper.

Flip the egg to cook the other side until the yolk is to your desired doneness.

Place one slice of American cheese on top of the cooked egg.

Cover the pan with a lid for a short period (about 30 seconds) to allow the cheese to melt. Remove the lid once the cheese is melted. Remove the egg from the pan and repeat steps 6-11 for the remaining 3 eggs.

On one side of a toasted bread slice, spread a layer of mayonnaise.

Place one to two pieces of lettuce on top of the mayonnaise.

Arrange two slices of tomato on the lettuce.

Place one slice of deli meat (ham or turkey) on top of the tomato.

Carefully transfer the cooked egg with melted cheese onto the deli meat.

On one side of the second toasted bread slice, spread a layer of ketchup.

Place the ketchup-spread side down onto the egg and cheese layer, completing the sandwich.

Cut the assembled sandwich diagonally in half. Repeat assembly for the remaining 3 sandwiches.

Serve the finished sandwiches immediately.
