Finely dice the yellow onion. In a medium non-stick skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the onion is softened and translucent but not browned.

While the onion is cooking, crack the large eggs into a medium bowl. Add the milk or cream (if using), salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Whisk vigorously with a fork or whisk until the yolks and whites are fully combined and slightly frothy.

Pour the whisked egg mixture into the skillet with the softened onions. Let the eggs sit undisturbed for about 30 seconds, allowing the edges to just begin to set.

Using a rubber spatula, gently push the cooked egg from the edges of the pan towards the center, tilting the pan to allow the uncooked egg to flow underneath. Continue cooking and folding the eggs for another 2 to 3 minutes, or until they are mostly set but still slightly moist and creamy. Do not overcook.

Remove the skillet from the heat immediately. Serve the quick scrambled eggs with onions hot.
