Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, grated or finely minced garlic, salt, and Italian seasonings until well combined.

Carefully cut the loaf of French bread in half lengthwise, creating two long halves.

Spread the prepared garlic butter mixture evenly onto the cut side of both French bread halves.

Evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella cheese over the buttered bread halves.

Place the bread onto a baking sheet and into the preheated oven.

Bake for 7-8 minutes, or until the cheese has completely melted and is bubbly.

Once the cheese has melted, change the oven setting to broil. Keep a close eye on the bread.

Broil for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese has a nice golden-brown top. Be very careful as it can burn quickly under the broiler.

Remove the bread from the oven. Garnish with optional grated Parmesan or Pecorino Romano, fresh thyme, and red pepper flakes.

Slice and serve immediately. Enjoy!
