Peel the Russet potatoes.

Chop the peeled potatoes into large, even-sized chunks.

Place the chopped potatoes into a large pot.

Add enough water to the pot to completely cover the potatoes. Add a generous amount of salt to the water.

Bring the water to a boil, then continue to boil until the potatoes are fork tender (about 15-20 minutes).

Once tender, carefully drain all the water from the potatoes.

Return the drained potatoes to the empty pot.

Add the stick of butter, 1/2 cup of heavy cream, 1/4 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to the pot with the potatoes.

Mash the potatoes and the added ingredients thoroughly using a potato masher until smooth.

Stir in 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese and 1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley. Mix all ingredients well until combined.

Serve the mashed potatoes, optionally topped with an extra dollop of butter and a sprinkle of fresh parsley.
