Prepare your workspace. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with 4 paper liners, placing them evenly spaced to allow room for arranging botanicals.

Melt the wax. Using a double boiler method (a heat-safe bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water), gently melt the soy wax flakes over medium heat until fully liquid and clear. Stir occasionally to ensure even melting.

Remove the melted wax from the heat. If using, stir in the essential oil until well combined. Be careful not to overheat the oil.

Arrange initial botanicals. Place one small evergreen sprig and one small cinnamon stick into the bottom of each prepared muffin liner. Loop one piece of twine and place it into the liner so the loop extends slightly above the top edge, ensuring it will be embedded in the wax.

Carefully pour the melted wax into each liner, filling it about two-thirds full. Ensure the embedded evergreen sprig, cinnamon stick, and twine are covered by the wax.

Add remaining botanicals. While the wax is still liquid, gently place one small pinecone, one additional evergreen sprig, and one dried orange slice (if using) on top of the wax in each liner. Adjust the twine loop to ensure it's centered and upright for hanging.

Allow to solidify. Let the wax sachets cool completely at room temperature for at least 2 to 3 hours, or until fully hardened and opaque. For faster setting, you can carefully transfer the muffin tin to the refrigerator for about 30 to 60 minutes.

Once fully hardened, gently peel away the paper liners from the wax sachets. Your festive wax sachets are ready to be hung as ornaments, used as decorative air fresheners, or given as thoughtful homemade gifts.
