To make the simple syrup, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 2 cups of water in a small pot. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is fully dissolved. Once it reaches a boil, immediately remove from heat and let it cool down for at least 15 minutes.

While the syrup cools, prepare the lemon juice. Cut 5 to 6 lemons in half. Using a lemon squeezer, extract the juice from all the lemon halves into a bowl or measuring cup. You should aim for approximately 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.

Prepare the strawberry puree. Place the hulled strawberries into a blender cup. Add about 1/4 cup of water to assist with blending. Blend until the strawberries form a smooth puree. Add a little more water if needed to achieve a smooth consistency.

Assemble the lemonade. Fill a 90-ounce pitcher generously with ice.

Pour the blended strawberry puree into the pitcher over the ice.

Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pitcher.

Carefully pour the still warm (but not boiling hot) simple syrup into the pitcher. The warmth of the syrup will help melt the ice slightly and integrate the flavors.

Add 1 cup of cold water to the pitcher.

Stir all the ingredients thoroughly in the pitcher until well combined. Taste the lemonade and adjust for sweetness or tartness by adding more simple syrup or a splash more lemon juice if desired.
