Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Grease and flour a round baking pan (approximately 20-22 cm in diameter). Set aside.

In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Mix thoroughly with a whisk to ensure even distribution. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla essence.

Using an electric mixer, beat the wet ingredients on medium speed until they are well combined, slightly frothy, and pale in color, about 2-3 minutes.

Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients (flour and baking powder mixture) to the wet mixture. Mix on low speed until a smooth batter forms, being careful not to overmix.

Pour in the milk and mix until it is fully incorporated into the batter and the batter is smooth.

Divide the batter into two equal portions in separate bowls.

To one portion of the batter, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Mix well until the cocoa powder is fully incorporated and the batter is uniformly brown. If a darker color or stronger chocolate flavor is desired, add a little more cocoa powder, 1/2 tablespoon at a time, and mix.

To create the marble effect, alternate spoonfuls of the plain (vanilla) batter and the chocolate batter into the prepared baking pan. Start with a spoonful of one color in the center of the pan, then place a spoonful of the other color directly on top of the first, allowing it to spread slightly. Continue alternating colors in the center, letting each spoonful spread outwards, until all the batter is used.

Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.

To check for doneness, insert a wooden skewer or toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. If not, continue baking for another 5-10 minutes and check again.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, slice and serve.
