Rinse the black glutinous rice under running water in a bowl. After rinsing, soak the rice overnight (approximately 8 hours).

Once soaked, drain the rice and place it into the rice cooker pot. Cook the black glutinous rice in the rice cooker using the "quickest setting". If your quickest setting is longer than 20 minutes, turn off your rice cooker after 20 minutes to prevent overcooking later.

Once the black glutinous rice is cooked, open the rice cooker. Stir the cooked rice. Add the small tapioca pearls, the piece of rock sugar, the can of coconut milk, and an unmeasured amount of water to the rice cooker pot.

Stir all the ingredients together in the rice cooker pot until well combined. Close the rice cooker and cook for another 20 minutes. Do not overcook once the tapioca goes in, or it will melt.

If the dessert is too thick in the end, simply stir in boiled water or more coconut milk until desired consistency is reached.

Scoop the warm black glutinous rice tapioca into a bowl and serve.
