Place the red beans in a bowl, add 200 ml of water, and soak for 2 hours. This is a passive step.

After soaking, drain the water from the red beans. Transfer the soaked red beans to a steamer and steam for 30 minutes until tender.

Once steamed, transfer the hot red beans to a bowl. Mash the red beans thoroughly with a fork or potato masher until a smooth paste forms.

Add 30 grams of sugar to the mashed red bean paste. Mix the sugar into the red bean paste until well combined.

Shape the red bean paste into approximately 10 small, uniform balls.

In a separate mixing bowl, add 100 grams of glutinous rice flour. Gradually add 200 ml of water to the flour, mixing continuously until a soft, pliable dough forms. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth.

Take a small portion of the glutinous rice dough and flatten it into a disc shape. Place one prepared red bean paste ball in the center of the flattened dough.

Carefully wrap the dough around the red bean ball, pinching the edges to seal it completely. Gently flatten the wrapped ball into a disc-shaped cake, approximately 1 to 1.5 cm thick.

Repeat step 7 and 8 for all the remaining red bean paste balls and glutinous rice dough.

Arrange the assembled cakes in a steamer basket. Steam the cakes for 10 minutes.

Once steamed, carefully remove the Red Bean Glutinous Rice Cakes from the steamer. Sprinkle white sesame seeds over the top of the cakes for garnish before serving.
