Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon and cook until it is browned. Drain any excess fat from the cooked ground beef.

Add the 1 diced onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until it is softened.

Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Pour in 24 ounces of marinara sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for at least 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.

While the sauce simmers, in a medium bowl, combine 15 ounces of ricotta cheese, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, and 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.

Preheat your oven to 375°F.

Spread a thin layer of the prepared meat sauce evenly over the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce layer.

Evenly spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.

Top the ricotta layer with 1/3 of the remaining meat sauce.

Sprinkle 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meat sauce.

Repeat the layering process: place another 3 lasagna noodles, then spread the remaining half of the ricotta mixture, followed by 1/3 of the remaining meat sauce, and another 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Place the final 3 lasagna noodles on top.

Cover these noodles with the remaining meat sauce.

Finally, top the entire lasagna with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese.

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Remove the aluminum foil and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and has a lightly browned appearance.

Once baked, let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the layers to set and prevents it from falling apart.
