Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Continue cooking the butter, stirring occasionally, until it foams, turns golden brown, and emits a nutty aroma. This is your brown butter.

Pour the browned butter into a large mixing bowl and set aside.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

To the large bowl containing the browned butter, add the mashed ripe bananas, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, one large egg, and vanilla extract.

Whisk these wet ingredients together until they are well combined.

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt for the banana bread batter.

Add the dry ingredients mixture to the wet ingredients mixture in the large bowl. Gently fold the ingredients together with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

In another separate bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, one large egg, and vanilla extract for the brownie batter.

Whisk the brownie wet mixture until smooth.

Add the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt to the brownie wet ingredients. Mix until the dry ingredients are just combined into the wet mixture.

Fold in the chocolate chips into the brownie batter.

Pour approximately half of the prepared banana bread batter into the bottom of the greased and floured loaf pan.

Dollop spoonfuls of the brownie batter over the banana bread layer.

Carefully pour the remaining banana bread batter over the brownie layer.

Add the remaining brownie batter on top of the final banana bread layer.

Gently swirl the batters together with a knife or skewer to create a marbled effect.

Bake the loaf in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes.

Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out with moist crumbs.

Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice the cooled brownie-stuffed banana bread. Serve with an optional pat of melty butter and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
