Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy to your liking. Remove from the oven, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat, and set aside.

While the bacon bakes, lightly grease eight individual ramekins (about 6-ounce capacity each) with the softened unsalted butter.

Carefully crack two large eggs into each prepared ramekin. If using, gently pour 1 tablespoon of heavy cream over the eggs in each ramekin. Season evenly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet (if not already on one) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and the yolks are still slightly runny. For firmer yolks, bake a few minutes longer.
