Pour the entire contents of the large can of tomato puree into a medium-sized pot. Add 1/2 cup of water to the empty tomato puree can, swirl to rinse out any remaining puree, and then pour the water into the pot with the tomato puree.

Add the molasses and brown sugar to the pot. Stir well to combine.

Pour in the Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, and white vinegar. Stir until all liquids are thoroughly mixed.
Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir everything together until the spices are evenly distributed.

Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. Continue to simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and its color deepens. The flavors will meld and caramelize during this time.

Remove the pot from the heat. Allow the barbecue sauce to cool completely at room temperature before serving or transferring to storage containers. This cooling process allows the flavors to fully develop.

Once cooled, serve the homemade barbecue sauce with your favorite grilled meats or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for future use.
