Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan.

In a large mixing bowl, mash the 3 ripe bananas until mostly smooth with a few small lumps remaining.

Add the 2 eggs to the mashed bananas and whisk until combined.

Pour in the 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and 1/2 cup of milk. Mix these wet ingredients together until well combined.

Add the entire box of yellow cake mix to the wet mixture. If using, stir in the 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until a smooth batter is formed. Be careful not to overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, you can loosely tent it with foil.

Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
