Cut the 1 pound of chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.

In a medium bowl, season the chicken with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon onion powder.

Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the seasoned chicken and mix well to ensure all pieces are evenly coated.

Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned chicken. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Remove the cooked chicken from the pan and set it aside on a plate.

In the same pan (do not clean it), add 2 tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt over medium heat.

Once the butter is melted, add the 4 finely minced cloves of garlic to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar into the pan.

If desired, add chili flakes to taste for a touch of heat.

Whisk the sauce ingredients together in the pan and bring to a gentle simmer. Continue to whisk for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly thickened.

Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the sauce. Toss the chicken until it is fully coated in the honey garlic sauce.

Serve the honey garlic chicken hot over white rice, if desired.
