Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil, and if using, place a wire rack on top.

In a medium bowl, combine the ground pork, egg, and 1 tablespoon of BBQ seasoning. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Divide the seasoned pork mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into an oval patty, ensuring they are slightly larger than the hot dog buns you will be using, as they will shrink slightly during cooking.

Place the formed patties on the prepared wire rack over the baking sheet (or directly on the baking sheet if not using a rack). Sprinkle a little more BBQ seasoning over the top of each patty.

Bake the patties in the preheated oven for about 18 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned.

While the patties are baking, prepare the toppings. Thinly slice the onion and set aside the pickle slices. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the hot dog buns cut-side down in the melted butter and toast until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Set aside.

Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the oven. Generously brush each patty with your favorite BBQ sauce.

Turn the oven to high broil. Place the sauced patties back under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes, watching carefully, until the sauce is caramelized and slightly bubbly.

Assemble your Homemade McRibs: Place a broiled pork patty on each toasted bun. Top with additional BBQ sauce (if desired), sliced onions, and sliced pickles. Serve immediately.
