Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Form each portion into a small, flat patty, roughly the size of an English muffin half.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the mini burger patties for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned. They don't need to be cooked through, as they will finish cooking in the oven.

Arrange the lightly toasted English muffin halves on the prepared baking sheet. Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over each English muffin half.

Place one cooked mini burger patty on top of the sauce on each English muffin half. Sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella cheese and, if using, a few mini pepperoni.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the burger patties are cooked through. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Remove from the oven, sprinkle with dried oregano and fresh chopped basil, and serve immediately.
