Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish or a similar sized oven-safe dish.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, all-purpose flour, and lemon juice. Toss gently until the apples are evenly coated. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.

In a separate medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, rolled oats, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and salt for the crumble topping. Add the cold, cubed unsalted butter. Using your fingertips, a pastry blender, or a fork, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.

Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple filling in the baking dish.

Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges and tender when pierced with a knife. If the topping starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely tent the dish with aluminum foil.

Remove the apple crumble from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 15-20 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to set slightly.
