Dump the 1 can of cherry pie filling into the bottom of a slow cooker.

Add the 1 can of crushed pineapple on top of the cherry pie filling. Ensure the juice from the pineapple is reserved and set aside.

Dump the 1 box of white cake mix on top of the fruit fillings.

Use your hand to pat the cake mix down, making sure it is nice and flat on top.

Take the 1/2 stick of butter, slice it thinly, and spread the slices evenly over the top of the dry cake mix.

Pour the reserved pineapple juice on top of the butter and cake mix layer.

If desired, sprinkle some shredded coconut on top.

Put the lid on the slow cooker.

Cook on high for 2 to 3 hours, or until the cake topping is set and golden brown.

Serve the dessert warm with a scoop of ice cream.
