In a medium saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup of butter, the 8-ounce package of cream cheese, and the 4 cloves of minced garlic.

Melt these ingredients together over medium heat, stirring frequently with a spatula until smooth and combined.

Add the 8 ounces of shredded Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper to the saucepan.

Reduce the heat to low.

Stir continuously using a whisk or spatula until all the cheese is melted. The mixture might still be a bit lumpy at this stage.

Pour in the 1 cup of milk.

Continue stirring until the sauce is well combined, hot, and smooth. Make sure to scrape the bottom of the pot to prevent anything from browning. The sauce should be creamy, smooth, cheesy, and garlicky.

Pour the prepared Alfredo sauce over the 1 pound of dried pasta that has been cooked according to package directions.

Grate additional Parmesan cheese on top if desired.

Mix the sauce and pasta together and serve immediately.
