Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula. Add the diced onions and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic to the pan. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, and seasoning salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the ground beef is fully browned and the onions are softened, about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the pan.

While the beef is cooking, take the package of Hawaiian rolls. Using a serrated knife, carefully slice the entire block of rolls horizontally, keeping them connected, to separate the tops from the bottoms.

Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls into the prepared baking dish. Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly over the bottom layer of the rolls. If using sliced cheese, arrange the slices over the beef. If using shredded cheese, sprinkle it generously over the beef layer to cover it completely.

Carefully place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls back over the cheese and ground beef mixture.

In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the 1/2 cup of unsalted butter. Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Pour or brush this melted garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of the assembled Hawaiian rolls, ensuring good coverage.

Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops of the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-browning.

Remove the sliders from the oven. Let them rest for 5 minutes before cutting into individual portions or rows. Serve warm, perhaps with a side of fries.
