Preheat your oven to 400°F. Choose a baking dish large enough to comfortably hold the tomatoes and feta without overcrowding, ideally a 9x13 inch dish.

In the baking dish, combine the halved cherry tomatoes, olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss gently to ensure the tomatoes are evenly coated.

Create a space in the center of the tomato mixture and place the block of feta cheese directly into it. Drizzle a little extra olive oil over the feta if desired.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the tomatoes have burst and are jammy, and the feta cheese is soft, creamy, and slightly golden on top. The edges of the feta might brown slightly, which is desirable.

Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven. Using a fork or spoon, gently mash the feta into the tomatoes, stirring to combine everything into a luscious sauce. The hot tomatoes and soft feta will meld together beautifully.

Garnish generously with fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately directly from the baking dish, with crusty bread for dipping, or tossed with hot cooked pasta for a complete meal.
