Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line a baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cocoa powder. Whisk them well until thoroughly mixed and no lumps remain.

Add the eggs to the sugar and cocoa powder mixture. Mix thoroughly with a whisk or electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

To the bowl, add the baking soda, all-purpose flour, hot water, milk, vegetable oil, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix all the ingredients well until the batter is smooth and no dry streaks of flour are visible. Be careful not to overmix.

Stir in the vanilla extract until it is fully incorporated into the batter.

Pour the prepared cake batter evenly into the lined baking pan.

Bake the cake in the preheated oven at 180°C for 35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. This will take approximately 60 minutes.

While the cake is cooling, prepare the chocolate ganache. In a small saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter.

Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring continuously with a spatula or whisk. Continue stirring until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy. Remove from heat immediately once smooth.

Once the cake is completely cooled, pour the warm chocolate ganache evenly over the top surface of the cake. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to gently spread the ganache to cover the entire top, allowing some to drip down the sides if desired.
