Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a small oven-safe baking dish (such as an 8x8 inch or 1 1/2-quart gratin dish).

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the hot Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook until browned and crumbled, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet. If using, stir in the red pepper flakes.

Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer the cooked sausage over the marinara sauce.

Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the sausage layer. Arrange the torn pieces of burrata cheese on top of the shredded cheeses.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly around the edges and the cheeses are fully melted and lightly golden brown on top.

Carefully remove the dip from the oven. Garnish with fresh chopped basil immediately. Serve hot with crusty bread, pita chips, or crackers for dipping.
