Place the dried hibiscus flowers in a heatproof pitcher or pot. Pour 4 cups of hot water over the hibiscus flowers. Let steep for 5 minutes, or until the tea reaches your desired strength. Strain the hibiscus tea into a separate container, discarding the flowers. Allow the tea to cool completely, which will take approximately 30 minutes.

While the tea cools, prepare the fruits. Take 1 cup of the sliced strawberries and all of the lime wedges (reserving some lime wedges for garnish) and place them into a sturdy mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Using a muddler, gently muddle the strawberries and lime until they release their juices and become a pulpy mixture.

Add the strawberry syrup (or your chosen sweetener) to the muddled fruit mixture. Once the hibiscus tea is completely cooled, pour it into the mixing glass with the muddled fruit and syrup. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

To serve, fill individual glasses with ice. Divide the remaining 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries among the glasses. Pour the prepared strawberry lime hibiscus mixture over the ice and strawberries, filling each glass about three-quarters full.

Top each glass with a splash of sparkling water. Garnish with fresh lime wedges and whole strawberries, if desired, before serving immediately.
