Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together thoroughly until well combined.

Stir the 3 cups of freshly shredded cheddar cheese into the dry mixture until it is evenly distributed.

In a separate measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the whole milk, 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter, and the large egg until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredient and cheese mixture. Stir gently with a spoon or spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a tough bread.

Pour the batter into the prepared 9x5 inch loaf pan. Smooth out the top of the batter with the back of a spoon or spatula.

Bake the bread uncovered in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the bread is baking, prepare the topping. In a small container or bowl, combine the remaining 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of dried parsley. Whisk these ingredients together until well blended.

Once the bread is out of the oven, immediately brush the prepared flavored butter topping generously all over the hot bread. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before carefully removing it to a wire rack to cool further. Serve warm or at room temperature.
