In a large bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, milk, and egg. Whisk these ingredients together until they are well combined.

Add the bread flour to the mixture. Mix with a spatula until no dry flour remains.

Add the softened butter and salt to the dough. Fold and knead the dough multiple times within the bowl until the butter is fully incorporated into the dough.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Once risen, transfer the dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Divide the dough into 7 equal pieces.

Take each piece of dough and gather the edges, rolling it into a smooth, round ball.

Place each dough ball onto a small square of parchment paper. Gently flatten each ball and then use a finger to make a hole in the center, forming a donut shape.

Cover the shaped donuts (on their parchment paper squares) with plastic wrap and let them rise for another 20 minutes.

While the donuts are rising for the second time, prepare the glaze by combining the butter, milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar in a bowl and mixing until smooth.

Heat oil in a deep pot or pan for frying.

Carefully place the risen donuts, along with their parchment paper squares, into the hot oil. Gently remove the parchment paper from each donut once it is in the oil using tongs.

Fry the donuts until they are golden brown on one side, then flip them over and fry until golden brown on the other side. This will take about 1-2 minutes per side.

Remove the fried donuts from the oil and place them on a cooling rack to cool slightly.

While the donuts are still warm, dip each donut into the prepared glaze, ensuring it's fully coated.
