Rinse the jasmine rice thoroughly under cold running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.
In a medium saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, the olive oil, and the salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly with the lid, and let the rice simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time.
