Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them. Thinly slice the orange and lemon. Set aside a few slices of strawberry, orange, and lemon for garnish, if desired.

In a large pitcher, gently muddle the fresh basil leaves with about half of the sliced strawberries. This will help release their flavors.

Add the bottle of dry white wine, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and the remaining sliced strawberries, orange, and lemon to the pitcher. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.

Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably 4-6 hours, to allow the flavors to fully meld and chill thoroughly. The longer it chills, the more infused the flavors will become.

To serve, fill individual glasses with ice. Pour the sangria over the ice, filling each glass about three-quarters full. Top each serving with a splash of chilled sparkling water or club soda and garnish with the reserved fruit slices and a fresh basil sprig, if desired.
